Church Programs

Director: Shawn Hutchings

Goals for this fraternal year

As a fraternal organization of Catholic men, the Knights of Columbus has strong ties to the Church. At all levels, from the local councils to the Supreme Council, the organization has the volunteer power, communications abilities and organization to help strengthen the Church while offering members and their families to grow in the faith. Through the sponsoring of Church-related activities the members of the Knights of Columbus continue to show that they are the strong right arm of the Church.

Getting Involved

Program directors do a terrific job in developing and bringing quality programs to our members and parishioners. But they can't do it alone. If you have any ideas for future programs/events or would like to help in some capacity, please contact the Church Director for any questions or to offer additional support.

Vocation Support

Chairman: PGK Mel Pritchard
Council 13467 has established a fund to help defray the cost of the seminary for a Seminarian assigned to Saint John the Apostle parish. This ongoing program began several years ago by providing prayers and financially support to help our seminarian in his persuit to become an ordained Priest.

To date, we have proudly assisted the following seminarians in their pursuit of Priesthood.

5th Sunday Rosary Program

Chairman: Mike Flannigan
To encourage greater devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, a new program has been developed under the Building the Domestic Church: The Family Fully Alive initiative. Every fifth week St. John's Rosary Program is conducted at the Fr. Gaughan Grotto, weather permitting.

The rosary offers a great opportunity for Knights of Columbus members and their families to strengthen their faith. A Marian program of this sort may also give parish families an opportunity to experience the faith and fellowship that comes with being a member of the Order.

Holy Family Prayer Program

Chairman: Open
Saint Johnís Knights of Council 13467 and their Ladies have become the core and 85% solution in Saint Johnís Sacramental Life. Of the Knights currently in Council 13467 I can not think of more than a handful of Brothers and or their Ladies that have not participated in one of the sacramental programs our Councils leads in our parish. The Knights of Columbus are the spiritual centerpiece of Catholicity at Saint Johnís and a role model for the rest of the Diocese of Richmond and the State Council of Virginia. We should highlight that this program was recognized as the best State Church Program for the State of Virginia for FY 2009.
